Marie Curie was a polish physicist and chemist. She was born on November 7 1867 and died July 4 1934. She discovered radiation and helped apply it to the field of x-ray. She won the Nobel Prize in chemistry and physics, making her the first women to win multiple Nobel prizes! To add to her resume she was the first women to become a professor. She developed the theory of radioactivity, while doing that she discovered two elements polonium and radium. Marie was fascinated by another physicist’s work who found out that uranium casts off rays. Marie took that theory a few steps further by conducting her own experiments on uranium rays. She was known to carry tubes of radium in her pocket which then led her death from overexposure to radiation. I picked Marie for this because she was very determined to become a scientist and she even used all her money to go to university, making her only live off of bread and tea. Her knowledge and persistence saved many lives in the world war!
